FLEMINGTON, NJ – April 7, 2025 – A revitalized chapter of local food, farming, and community connection begins this spring as the Hunterdon Community Farmers Market (HCFM) kicks off its inaugural season on Sunday, May 4th, 2025, at Dvoor Farm in Flemington.
A newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Hunterdon Community Farmers Market carries forward the beloved 18-year tradition once managed by the Hunterdon Land Trust—now with a renewed mission to support high-quality local growers and makers, educate the public about sustainable agriculture, and expand equitable food access across the region.
What sets HCFM apart is a bold belief: a farmers market can be more than a place to shop—it can be the heart of a community. With that spirit, a diverse board of local farmers, community leaders, and business professionals has come together to build a stronger, more vibrant market that supports not only the local economy but also the ecosystem of connection that makes Hunterdon County special.
“This is about more than tomatoes and turnips. It’s about regenerating a local economy, preserving farmland, and bringing people together—week after week—for something that feels good and does good,” said Dean Buttacavoli, farmer and one of HCFM’s founding directors.
In just a few short months, the team behind HCFM has registered the new organization, secured nonprofit status, drafted a strategic business plan, and rallied volunteers and stakeholders who care deeply about the future of food, farms, and families in Hunterdon County.
HCFM has already earned early community investment and support, including a meaningful grant from a private foundation and a supporting sponsorship from Unity Bank—underscoring the confidence in the market’s vision and impact.
